Stellenbosch FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke has revealed how teammate Sage Stephens played a significant role in making his transition and experience at the club smoother
Masuluke is in his second season at the Betway Premiership side since joining from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC.
Despite playing second fiddle most of the time, the 32-year-old has also featured in some key matches, including the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, where Stellies unfortunately were eliminated by Simba SC.
Speaking during a social responsibility programme organised by retired PSL referee Victor Hlungwani in Giyani, Limpopo, on Thursday, Masuluke acknowledged the leadership role played by Stephens as well as fellow goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt since joining Stellenbosch.

“I learn a lot from Sage. He has quality leadership skills because he loves people,โ Masuluke told FARPost.

โThere is no one who has issues with Sage; he is loved by everyone, especially us, the two goalkeepers, Lee Langeveldt, and myself. Thatโs why itโs easy for us to help each other as teammates.โ
OSCARINE MASULUKE SHARES INSIGHTS ON HIS HIST EXPERIENCE AT CAF INTER-CLUB LEVEL
“It was tough because that was my first time. I had never had an opportunity to play at that level before. Thatโs why I will always be grateful to coach Steve Barker as well for affording me an opportunity to play in some matches.”
“You must show every day at training that you are capable, and that’s what I did. Even when I am not playing, you need to support those who are playing.
โThatโs why itโs easy for me when I get an opportunity, because I am always supporting Sage whenever he is playing, so that he also fully supports me when I play.โ
