Former Orlando Pirates and Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Mark Mayambela has shed light on the rigorous and “demanding” routine involved in obtaining a UEFA A Coaching License.

Mayambela is currently in Belfast, Northern Ireland, undertaking the final assessment for his UEFA A Coaching License.

The 37-year-old has been in the United Kingdom for a week, working to complete the qualification he started last year. He already holds UEFA C and UEFA B badges and serves as a development coach for Cape Town City FC.

Interestingly, as Mayambela progresses in his coaching education, reports have emerged linking him to a potential assistant coach role at Chippa United. This comes after the Betway Premiership side appointed Sinethemba Badela, formerly assistant coach at Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club, as their new head coach ahead of the 2025/26 PSL season.

The Gqeberha-based club has also brought in Sinesipho Mali, previously Sekhukhune United‘s head scout and technical analyst, as their new sporting director. Mali played a role in Sekhukhune’s consecutive fourth-place finishes in the SA top-flight.

MARK MAYAMBELA ON DEMANDING A UEFA COACHING BADGE

Shedding light on the rigorous nature of the UEFA A coaching badge, Mayambela disclosed that his daily classes stretch from 8 in the morning until 8 at night.

“Incredible week in Belfast for our 2nd block of the UEFA A, demanding!” wrote the ex-Chippa United dribbling wizard on his official Instagram account.

“A day that starts at 8 AM and ends at 8 PM. Steve Sallis’ presentation on high performance and leadership was incredible, the highlight of my week.

“I have taken an education-led approach in my career thus far. Four years in coaching, and I have taken some significant strides I am proud of. Aluta continua.”
