Pending the approval of the PSL, Limpopo businessman Lester Makatoane is set to officially take full control of Motsepe Foundation Championship side JDR Stars.
JDR have been participating in the National First Division since their promotion from the third-tier league in 2019, under the guidance of Nditsheni Nemasisi as both owner and coach.
The club came close to securing a spot in the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs a few times including during the 2021/22 season when they finished fourth.
They finished seventh in the recently concluded season despite being one of the favourites for promotion to the Betway Premiership.
MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE JDR STARS SET TO BE OFFICIALLY SOLD TO LIMPOPO BUSINESSMAN
A communiqué was reportedly sent to the JDR Stars staff members and players by Nemasisi informing them of the pending sale of the club.
This will also mean that the new owner will inherit all the club’s assets and liabilities, including debts.

WHAT DOES THIS PUBLICATION KNOW ABOUT NEW OWNER OF JDR STARS LESTER MAKATOANE?
FARPost has gathered that Makatoane is not completely new to JDR Stars. Negotiations for a takeover and his involvement at the club date back to the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
He was not only spotted at most of their matches, both home and away, but was also involved in the running of the team.
Before his involvement at JDR, the mining mogul was also involved in the running of SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Ditlou FC during the 2023/24 season as an ‘investor’.
Pending the approval of the PSL, the club is set to be renamed and officially relocate to Sekhukhune in Limpopo.
But due to challenges of facilities in the area, especially in Jane Furse, where Makatoane hails from, they could be forced to play their home matches at the Kameelrivier Stadium in Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga.
On 7-8 June 2025, the Mahlopi Metals group owned by Makatoane held what they called National First Division trials at the Jane Furse Artificial Pitch.
