AmaZulu FC goalkeeper Andile Mbanjwa is set to leave the club with his contract expiring following the end of the 2024/25 PSL season.
After two years at Usuthu, the goalkeeper’s tenure has been marked by a persistent struggle for playing time. He arrived on a free transfer and hasn’t been able to break into the starting line-up, limiting his impact in the squad.
He only made his club debut in their last match of the recently ended Betway Premiership campaign against Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
In a match that saw Usuthu share a point with Ezimnyama Ngenkani in a 1-1 draw, the goalkeeper was introduced in the 50th minute, coming on in the second-half to replace Richard Ofori.
AMAZULU DECIDE AGAINST EXTENDING ANDILE MBANJWAโS STAY
FARPost has been informed that the Durban-based club has decided against extending Mbanjwaโs stay ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Joining Usuthu in 2023, Mbanjwa had to compete with Veli Mothwa, Olwethu Mzimela [on loan last season], and, recently, Richard Ofori, who were seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.
This website reached out to the clubโs Public Relations Officer Philani Ndlela, who was unavailable to comment at the time of publishing.
Meanwhile, AmaZulu are also said to have parted company with Bafana Bafana goalie Veli Mothwa, who has been with the club since 2020, having joined from Chippa United.
His departure has led to AmaZulu’s need for another goalkeeper, prompting them to secure Darren Johnson on a free transfer, with his contract with the Chilli Boys set to expire on 30 June 2025.
Meanwhile, it remains uncertain whether AmaZulu will summon back Olwethu Mzimela, who spent the second round of the last season on loan at Durban City FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
