The Nasreddine Nabi era at Kaizer Chiefs is set to continue as the Soweto giants return for pre-season on Friday, June 20, marking the end of their break and the start of preparations for the 2025/26 season.

Nabi’s technical team is expected to lead Amakhosi’s first training session at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena, quashing recent reports of his potential departure.

The Tunisian tactician’s tenure has already seen success, as he guided Amakhosi to the 2025 Nedbank Cup triumph, ending a 10-year trophy drought with a victory over arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the final.

Despite missing out on a top-eight league finish last season, the Soweto giants did secure a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, fulfilling one of the key mandates set for Nabi by Chiefs’ management.

The pre-season will commence with medicals, followed by physical and football-related activities. While most players are expected to report back on Friday, some are anticipated to join on Monday.

Amakhosi have also confirmed a pre-season camp in the Netherlands, scheduled from July 3 to 19. However, they did not disclose the match schedule during their stay in the European country.

SQUAD REVAMP UNDERWAY AT KAIZER CHIEFS

Chiefs are in the midst of a significant squad revamp. Sabelo Radebe, Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, and Njabulo Blom have officially departed Naturena.

Blom, in particular, will return to his parent club, St. Louis City SC, in the MLS, following the conclusion of his loan spell. Further exits are anticipated, with Mduduzi Mdantsane, Fiacre Ntwari, George Matlou, and Edson Castillo all rumoured to be close to leaving the club.

And while Chiefs have yet to officially confirm any new signings, it’s understood that former Orlando Pirates duo Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako have joined the Soweto giants.
