A club in a European top-flight league has confirmed another pre-season fixture against the Kaizer Chiefs in the Netherlands.
The Soweto giants started their pre-season training on Friday, June 20, and will head to the Netherlands for their training camp from July 3 to July 19.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi’s squad intends to fine-tune their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 season against competitive European opposition.
Eredivisie side FC Utrecht has already announced that they will face Amakhosi on July 11 in a closed-door friendly.
In addition, another Eredivisie club, NEC Nijmegen, has confirmed on their website that they will host the Chiefs on July 12, just one day after the match against FC Utrecht. This match will take place at the Sportpark De Passelegt field in Gelderland, approximately 100 km from Amsterdam.
NEC Nijmegen finished eighth in the Eredivisie last season, while FC Utrecht secured a fourth-place finish, earning them a spot in the UEFA Europa League playoffs. In confirming the tie against Amakhosi, FC Utrecht said they were facing the “most popular club in South Africa” on their official website.

In addition to the match against Kaizer Chiefs, FC Utrecht will also compete against Siyabonga Ngezana’s FCSB in another pre-season match.
NEC NIJMEGEN TO TEST NEW SIGNINGS AGAINST CHIEFS
NEC Nijmegen has been active in the transfer market, securing Youssef El Kachati from Telstar and welcoming back Tjaronn Chery.
They are reportedly close to finalising deals for former FC Twente attacker Virgil Misidjan and goalkeeper Gonzalo Crettaz. Misidjan, a 31-year-old forward, is a free agent and has already completed a medical examination.
Crettaz, 25, has previously worked with new NEC coach Dick Schreuder at Castellon, and his potential arrival may be timely with the possible departure of Robin Roefs, who has been linked to Ajax.
NEC Nijmegen will want to use the friendly against the South African side to test their new signings. They will also play Germany’s Werder Bremen and VfL Sportfreunde Lotte, SC NEC, SC Groningen, which finished 13th in the Eredivisie, De Treffers and Greek side PAOK Saloniki.
