Nyatama spent the last season as coach of relegated Motsepe Foundation Championship side Leruma United.
The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns player had hinted at continuing with the side at the SAFA ABC Motsepe League.
But Chippa, who recently appointed Sinethemba Badela as the head coach, have now roped in the 37-year-old as the new assistant coach.
