Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis has announced her final squad for the upcoming CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they aim to defend their title.
The WAFCON tournament will start on Saturday, 5 July and conclude on Saturday, 26 July 2025.
Coach Ellis initially announced her 28-member preliminary squad that assembled for camp in Johannesburg on Thursday, 19 June 2025.
On Monday, 23 June, Ellis trimmed her 28-player preliminary squad to 23 players. The final Banyana squad announcement took place at the SABC television studios in Auckland Park on Monday.
The defending African champions, who won the title back in 2022 with Ellis at the helm, aim to replicate their form at the tournament again.
Banyana are pitted in Group C of the WAFCON competition alongside Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania.
Ellis’ charges will start their group stage campaign against Ghana on 7 July, then lock horns with Tanzania on 11 July, and Mali on 14 July 2025.

BANYANA BANYANA WILL BE BASED IN OUJDA
The SA Women’s National Team will be based in Oujda for their group stage matches.
But Banyana will be without the services of former CAF Womenโs Footballer of the Year Thembi Kgatlana due to personal reasons.
Meanwhile, Jermaine Seoposenwe will be playing for the last time in Banyana colours at the tournament following her recent shocking retirement from international football.
The other players who have been left out of the Banyana final squad are Shakira OโMalley and Michelle Sampson.
Meanwhile, Refiloe Jane, Lebohang Ramalepe, and Amogelang Motau have been named as Banyana Banyana’s co-captains for the WAFCON tournament.
