Carling Knockout Cup-winning coach Clinton Larsen is on the verge of joining Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda FC, FARPost has learnt.
Larsen has been without a job since parting ways with Magesi FC immediately after the Carling Cup match against the Carling All Stars side in December 2024
The resignation came as a shock to many, as the 54-year-old had enjoyed great success with the Limpopo side.
Not only did he guide them to promotion to the Betway Premiership, but they also won the Carling Knockout, beating Mamelodi Sundowns in Mangaung.
But the club experienced a poor run of form in the league after the cup triumph, leading to the resignation of Larsen. He was replaced by coach Owen Da Gama, who has been in charge of the side ever since.
VENDA FC SECURE THE REPLACEMENT OF OUTGOING COACH STANFORD NKOANE
As FARPost reported last week, the current coach at Venda FC, Stanford Nkoane, is set to leave the club with indications of a move to JDR Stars.
Nkoane is said to have agreed to terms with the new owners of JDR, pending approval of the club’s status by the PSL. Nkoane helped Venda FC narrowly survive relegation last season.

THE IMMINENT APPOINTMENT OF CLINTON LARSEN SEEN AS A STRONG STATEMENT BY MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE
This publication has reliably gathered that Larsen has been earmarked as the replacement for Nkoane ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Larsen has previously been linked with a move to Richards Bay FC, but the deal reportedly collapsed at the last minute.
The move by Venda FC to go for the experienced Larsen is seen as an indication of their ambitions to gain promotion this season.
The club has been campaigning in the National First Division for four seasons now. They came close to securing a spot in the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs during their first season in 2021/22.
