Golden Arrows are set to part ways with Sifiso Mlungwana and Nkosingiphile Gumede after signing a new goalkeeper.
The contracts of both keepers are understood to be expiring on 30 June, marking a potential end to their spells with the Durban side.
Mlungwana and Gumede rose through the Arrows youth ranks to eventually compete fiercely for the coveted first-choice spot in the senior team’s starting line-up.
Gumede was promoted to the first team in 2011. He made his debut in a match against Ajax Cape Town [Cape Town Spurs in December, the same year.

Gumede enjoyed a significant run of being the first-choice ‘keeper for three seasons, showcasing his reliability between the posts.
The 31-year-old played 24 games across all competitions in the 2016/17 season, 22 in 2017/18 and 23 in the 2018/19 campaign.
In total, Gumede notched up 132 appearances in Abafana Besโthende shirt, conceding 148 goals and keeping 33 clean-sheets.

During his stint at Arrows, Gumede was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that played in the two-legged CHAN qualifier against Angola in 2015. He was also part of the national team squad that took part in the COSAFA Cup in 2016.
Meanwhile, Mlungwana joined Arrows via their MultiChoice Diski Challenge side in 2018 from the UKZN Varsity football team. He was then promoted to the first team in January 2020 after impressing in the reserve team.
The 28-year-old was the first-choice goal-minder for Arrows in the 2020/21 campaign, making 31 appearances in all competitions. At the end of that season, he was nominated for the PSL Goalkeeper of the Season award, which was won by Mamelodi Sundownsโ Denis Onyango.
In total, Mlungwana racked up 84 appearances, conceding 90 goals and registering 22 clean-sheets.
In 2021, he was part of the Bafana squad that played the COSAFA Cup. He also got a couple of preliminary squad call-ups from the national team coach Hugo Broos.
Meanwhile, to strengthen their goalkeeping department, Arrows signed Xolani Ngcobo in April, as first reported by FARPost.
