Kaizer Chiefs look poised to secure the signature of Flavio Silva, a Portuguese striker with roots in Guinea-Bissau. Silva is a product of the Sporting CP youth academy, where he began his footballing journey.

He is set to join Amakhosi from the Indonesian Premier League club Persebaya Surabaya, boasting an impressive scoring record. The 1.85m-tall striker made a striking debut in Southeast Asia in January 2023, netting five goals in a single match to lead Persik Kediri to a 5–2 victory over Persikabo 1973.

His prolific scoring continued, and he boasts an impressive record of 39 goals in 78 appearances during his stint in Liga 1. Last season was remarkably outstanding for him, as he netted 23 goals in just 29 matches. His consistency was evident from the start. He scored seven goals in his first season at Persik Kediri and followed that up with nine goals in 33 games during his debut season with Persebaya.

Described as a classic number 9, Silva stands out with aerial prowess and instinctive finishing inside the box. While contract details have yet to be established, information reaching FARPost is that the 1.85m-tall striker could soon complete his move to the club.

HOW FLAVIO SILVA COULD HELP KAIZER CHIEFS

The 29-year-old, born in Bissau, on the coast of West Africa, is a target man who provides a clear focal point for the team.

He is capable of powerful shots with both feet. The striker has good pace for his height. The former Benfica B forward presses aggressively and is a clinical finisher who often capitalises on opponents’ mistakes while creating space around the box.

Flavio, who has represented Portugal at youth level, also excels in ground duels, winning an average of eight per match. This is more than some of the team’s top defenders and attackers, highlighting his active involvement in play.

If he completes his switch to Amakhosi, Flavio is likely to rely on Miguel Inacio, who was born in Portugal and is of African descent. Thabo Cele, who spent several years in Portugal, could also be helpful in assisting him to settle.
