Experienced midfielder Mpho Mvelase is expected to stay with TS Galaxy, quashing recent speculation about his potential departure ahead of the new PSL season.

Mvelase joined TS Galaxy in July 2023, arriving from Marumo Gallants following their relegation from the DStv Premiership to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the close of the 2022/23 season.

During the recently concluded Betway Premiership campaign, the 36-year-old proved to be a pivotal figure for the Mpumalanga-based club, making 27 appearances across all competitions.

Since his arrival, the experienced defensive midfielder has featured in a total of 64 matches for Galaxy, contributing four goals and two assists.

Mvelase boasts a significant career in South Africa’s top-flight league, having also represented notable clubs such as Orlando Pirates, Chippa United, and Polokwane City FC.

WHAT’S THE LATEST REGARDING MPHO MVELASE’S FUTURE AT TS GALAXY

According to a source close to FARPost, Mvelase has committed his future to TS Galaxy, signing a one-year contract extension. This dispels earlier reports suggesting the midfielder had parted ways with the Tim Sukazi-owned club.

Mvelase’s strong performances were instrumental in helping the Rockets secure a fifth-place finish in the Betway Premiership. Under the guidance of Adnan Beganovic, who took over from Sead Ramovic in November, Galaxy amassed 35 points from 28 matches.

Their fifth-place finish means TS Galaxy will face Sekhukhune United in the upcoming 2025/26 MTN8 competition, as Babina Noko secured fourth place in the league.

Meanwhile, TS Galaxy is also set to bring in two promising youngsters from Kaizer Chiefs’ DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team: Siphesihle Tati and Ntando Nkosi. Nkosi previously captained the Amakhosi reserve side. Both players recently left the Soweto giants after helping the club clinch a historic DDC title.
