Two more PSL clubs have joined the race for Orlando Pirates target Jaisen Clifford, who’s reportedly been invited by the Buccaneers for assessment.
Clifford’s time at Bulgarian side Etar Veliko Tarnovo is coming to an end, with his contract expiring on 30 June, with the player having been with the club since March 2024.
The 29-year-old winger enjoyed a productive loan spell at Sportist Svoge since joining in January, proving his worth. In 33 appearances across all competitions, he rattled the back of the net on seven occasions and provided one assist.
With his impressive showings in the past campaign, the Mpumalanga-born star also garnered attention from different European clubs.
As first reported by Sportswire, Pirates have placed winger Clifford on their radar, aiming to bolster their flanks ahead of what promises to be a challenging upcoming season.
Notably, the future of Pirates left-footed winger Monnapule Saleng remains uncertain as his issues with the club are yet to be resolved. Meanwhile, reports suggest that talented youngster Relebohile Mofokeng continues to attract significant interest from overseas clubs.

Following an invite for assessment, it remains to be seen whether Clifford will be part of the team with the Sea Robbers set to jet out to Spain for a pre-season camp.
CLIFFORD ON RADAR OF PSL CLUBS
Now, according to FARPost sources, two unnamed PSL clubs have also shown interest in the SuperSport United academy product.
Clifford, who can be utilised in both flanks, came through the Matsatsantsa development structures before he departed the club in 2015, switching to the Maltese side Gudja United. This was his first club outside SA.
He then moved to Mqabba FC, plying his trade there for one season before a move to Lithuanian side Stumbras. There, he played a major role in their success, notably helping the club clinch the Lithuanian Cup in 2017.
He also turned out for Condeixa [Portugal], Cape Town All-Stars [South Africa] and FC Van [Armenia].
