Sipho Mbule’s contract length at Pirates revealed

Sipho Mbule at Orlando Pirates

Following Sipho Mbule’s move to Orlando Pirates ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, his contract length has been revealed.

Mbule ended speculation around his future after joining the Sea Robbers on a free transfer last week. The talented midfielder became a free agent after Mamelodi Sundowns decided against taking an option on his contract at the end of the previous season.

‘Master Chef’ spent two seasons with Sundowns after signing from SuperSport United in 2022. At the start of last season, Mbule was sent out on loan to Sekhukhune United to get regular game time.

His stint at Sekhukhune was marred by a series of disciplinary issues, which saw Babina Noko cut the loan spell short. During his time at Sekhukhune, Mbule featured in 17 matches across all competitions, scored two goals, and provided three assists.

HOW LONG IS SIPHO MBULE’S CONTRACT AT ORLANDO PIRATES?

In one of the most talked-about transfers, Mbule penned a deal with Pirates for the upcoming campaign. The 27-year-old joined the Soweto giants alongside other big names such as Yanela Mbuthuma, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Tshepang Moremi, Tshepho Mashiloane, Masindi Nemtajela, Nkosikhona Ndaba, and Sihle Nduli.

After Pirates won the race to sign Mbule, FARPost has established that the skilful midfielder inked a one-year contract with an option to extend for another two years.

The highly-rated star will jet off to Spain with his new teammates at Pirates for a pre-season tour under the newly appointed coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Ouaddou took over the hot seat at Pirates after parting ways with Marumo Gallants last month. The Moroccan tactician is taking over from Jose Riveiro, who left the Buccaneers to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Riveiro left Pirates after spending three seasons at the helm, having joined in July 2022. The Spanish mentor went on to win three MTN8 trophies and two Nedbank Cup titles at the club.
