South African right-back Mhleli Mabuza has agreed terms with Portuguese side Amora FC after his trial stint with Kaizer Chiefs ended without a formal offer.
The 24-year-old, who spent a week being assessed at Naturena, has been in talks with Amora. His trial at Naturena coincided with preparations for the final two matches of the 2024/25 season, leading to doubts about the thoroughness of his evaluation.
Following the uncertainty at the Soweto giants, Mabuza set his sights on returning to Europe.
The full-back made a notable impact in Portugal, earning the accolade of Best Right Back in the Campeonato de Portugal. His impressive performances with Louletano DC in the fourth tier included contributing nine assists.
With his contract at Louletano now concluded, Mabuza will join Amora as a free agent. He is scheduled to fly to Portugal this week to finalise the deal and begin pre-season preparations with his new teammates.

Prior to his trial with Chiefs, he attracted interest from several local clubs, including TS Galaxy, AmaZulu FC, and Sekhukhune United. Meanwhile, Amakhosi recently signed Orlando Pirates right-back Thabiso Monyane on a free transfer, who is expected to compete with Reeve Frosler for the starting right-back spot.
