Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed their first major signing for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season with the arrival of talented left-back Nkanyiso Shinga.
Following Shinga’s arrival, anticipation is high as Chiefs are expected to announce more new signings before the squad departs for their pre-season tour in the Netherlands.
The Soweto giants have recently returned from their off-season break, diving straight into preparations for the highly anticipated upcoming season. Chiefs have been exceptionally busy in the transfer market, actively bolstering their squad with the clear aim of building a more competitive team.
Last season proved to be a disappointment for the Glamour Boys in the league, as they failed to qualify for the top eight, finishing ninth on the table with 32 points from 22 matches.
However, the club did manage to break a significant spell, ending their 10-year trophy drought by clinching the 2025 Nedbank Cup. This long-awaited silverware came after a thrilling 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium in May.
KAIZER CHIEFS REVEAL NKANYISO SHINGA’S JERSEY NUMBER
With the Naturena-based side looking to build from their Nedbank Cup success, they have moved swiftly to sign Nkanyiso Shinga, as first reported by FARPost.

The highly-rated wing-back is joining Chiefs from the Portuguese top division side FC Alverca. Shinga featured in 22 appearances for a team partly owned by Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr.
Shinga penned a deal with Chiefs, beefing up the left-back position after the exit of the Mozambican international Edmilson Dove.
On Tuesday, Chiefs announced the signing of Shinga, revealing that the KZN academy product will wear jersey number 74.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of 25-year-old Nkanyiso Shinga. The talented left-back is a versatile operator who can also play in midfield and attack. He will don jersey 74. Welcome to the Family.”
Meanwhile, the Soweto outfit has also brought in Paseka Mako, Ethan Chislett, Thabiso Monyane, and Flavio Silva, with their official announcements expected very soon.
