Orlando Pirates have won the race to sign highly-rated Polokwane City FC star Oswin Appollis, their ninth signing in the current transfer window.
The Buccaneers moved swiftly to beat rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns to the signature of the talented Bafana Bafana winger.
Pirates are continuing to bolster their squad in a bid to build a formidable team for their new head coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou.
The Moroccan tactician took over the helm at Pirates over a week ago after parting ways with Marumo Gallants at the end of the last season. Ouaddou is coming in as a replacement for Jose Riveiro, who left Pirates in May to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Riveiro had been with Pirates for three seasons, having arrived in South Africa in July 2022. The Spanish tactician decided against renewing his contract with the Soweto giants to take over a new project at Al Ahly.
Meanwhile, Pirates went into the transfer market to sign new players to compete for all trophies on offer next season.
OSWIN APPOLLIS BECOMES THE NINTH SIGNING FOR PIRATES

So far, the Buccaneers have signed Tshepang Moremi, Sihle Nduli, Sipho Mbule, Yanela Mbuthuma, Tshepho Mashiloane, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, and Masindi Nemtajela.
Pirates made an announcement of marquee signing Oswin Appollis for the upcoming Betway Premiership campaign on Wednesday.
The Bafana Bafana international has been a subject of speculation, with reports linking him to the big three and other clubs outside of South Africa.
Pirates emerged victorious in capturing the signature of Appollis, who will add a lot of pace, skill, and goals in the club’s attacking department.
The 23-year-old featured in 28 appearances in all competitions, scored two goals, and provided two one last campaign. He was also part of the Bafana squad that won the bronze medal at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
