AmaTuks confirm new technical team
Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria have unveiled Kwanele Kopo as their new head coach.
AmaTuks have been without a coach since they parted ways with Tlisane Motaung at the end of the season. This is after the club finished 10th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last campaign.
During his tenure at the club, Motaung took the club to the PSL Promotional/Relegation playoffs twice.
AMATUKS FC ANNOUNCES KWANELE KOPO AS THE NEW HEAD COACH AHEAD OF THE NEW SEASON
During a press conference held at the University of Pretoria Hillcrest Campus on Thursday, the club announced the arrival of Kopo. He is joined by former Polokwane City and Marumo Gallants coach Willy Machete Moloto, who will serve as an assistant.
Ex-Polokwane City coach Machete Moloto joins the former Chippa United mentor in the new-look AmaTuks technical team.
“AmaTuks FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Coach Kwanele Kopo as the new head coach, joined by coach Machete Moloto as assistant coach,” the club said in a statement on Thursday.
“Coach Nic Stothard will continue to support the team as second assistant coach, while also leading the varsity team.”
Kopo’s last job as a coach in the Motsepe Foundation Championship was during his time at Pretoria Callies. It was also the same time that the former SuperSport United coach revived the career of newly signed Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis, who has gone on to also represent Bafan Bafana.
He spent a season and a half at the club before his departure, where he later joined Betway Premiership side Chippa United.
Kopo left the Eastern Cape-based club after the end of his contract. He had been with the club for 12 months, having joined in January 2024.
The former SuperSport United coach is expected to lead the club into the new Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
