Chiefs announce signings of Monyane and Mako

Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of former Orlando Pirates duo Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako. The two fullbacks cross the floor to Naturena on a free transfer after their contracts expired.

Amakhosi had already confirmed the arrival of left-back Nkanyiso Shinga as their first signing ahead of the new season. Additionally, Flavio Silva and Ethan Chislett have joined as their latest recruits.

Paseka Mako, aged 31, has been unveiled ahead of the team’s pre-season trip to the Netherlands. Mako spent nine years at PSL giants Pirates, making 173 appearances, scoring two goals and providing eight assists, while winning six trophies.

Monyane, on the other hand, is an academy graduate of the Bucs who spent six seasons with the first team before his departure. The 25-year-old is set to travel to the Netherlands with Chiefs for pre-season. Mako, on the other hand, is unlikely to travel as he is injured and will reportedly be out for two weeks. All things being equal, Mako will join the team upon returning from their overseas camp.

MONYANE OFF TO THE NETHERLANDS

The Chiefs will kick off their pre-season tour with a match against SBV Vitesse Arnhem on July 8, followed by a game against FC Utrecht three days later.

On July 12, NEC Nijmegen will be their next opponent. After a brief break, the Chiefs will face PEC Zwolle on July 15, concluding their tour the following day with a match against FC Twente Enschede.

Amakhosiโ€™s Tunisian coach, Nasreddine Nabi, will have the opportunity to see some of his new signings in action. With the CAF Champions League and domestic league schedules approaching, Nabi was eager to have as many quality players as possible to build sufficient squad depth.

Meanwhile, Chiefs are yet to announce the arrival of Siphesihle Ndlovu, who joins them from SuperSport United. Ndlovu has signed a three-year deal with the club although he is unlikely to travel with them due to visa issues.
