Former JDR Stars striker Ishmael Wadi has joined Zimbabwe’s PSL giants Caps United after leaving the Motsepe Foundation Championship side.
Wadi rejoins the Harare giants where he carved a niche before switching to SA’s football ranks in July 2021. He joined JDR Stars amid so much expectation but failed to break into the Betway Premiership.
The 32-year-old was impressive in his first season at the club, so much so that he attracted the interest of AmaZulu FC. Kaizer Chiefs were at some point reported to be tracking the speedy Zimbabwean winger.
Stellenbosch FC were the last team to show interest in his services, but no deal materialised as JDR Stars held onto him. Last season, he ended with four goals in the 23 matches that he played for the club in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.,
His contract was not renewed following the end of the 2024/25 season. And Caps United were quick to pounce on him, as they look for a lasting solution to their goal-scoring problems.

Details of his contract with Caps United have not been revealed, but Wadi is in line to play in their blockbuster club clash against Scottland FC on Sunday at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.
It will be interesting to see how Wadi will fare at Caps United, considering the good impression he made in his initial stint. Nevertheless, Wadi’s arrival at Caps United brings a ray of hope, as they seek better strides in the 2025 season.
The Green Machine, as Caps United are affectionately known, are in the bottom half of the log table after 18 matches. In particular, they have been struggling for consistency.
As a result, Zambian coach Ian Bakala is hoping the mid-season signings will give them more impetus. Wadi joins the club alongside DR Congo centre-forward Chris Mugalu.
Magalu was on the books of Forest Rangers last season. Zambian defender Chitoshi Chinga also joins the Harare-based club. Chinga played for Forest Rangers and Kabwe Warriors.
