Betway Premiership outfit Magesi FC have tabled an offer to retain the services of former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thabang Sibanyoni.

Sibanyoni, who spent the second half of the season at Magesi, is a free agent after his contract with Sundowns expired.

He impressed during his loan spell at Magesi FC, making significant contributions to their late turnaround that helped them retain their top-flight status. The Limpopo clubโ€™s former head coach, Owen da Gama, who recently left the club, highlighted the impact of the then Sundowns loanee last season.

The 2025 Carling Knockout Cup champions managed to avoid relegation in their debut Betway Premiership season, finishing 13th despite a challenging start. Sibanyoni joined them on loan in January, where he scored crucial goals that aided their survival bid.

Described as โ€œan unbelievable playerโ€ and โ€œa target manโ€ by Owen Da Gama, the 29-year-old has been offered a new deal by Magesi.

However, Sibanyoni reportedly has other offers that he could consider ahead of the 2025/26 season. He has been on the radar of clubs like Marumo Gallants and newly promoted Durban City FC.

While under contract with Sundowns, Sibanyoni has had loan spells with Tuks, SuperSport United, Richards Bay, and most recently, Magesi. He possesses experience, can play with his feet, is good in the air, holds up the ball well, and is considered a team player.

Meanwhile, Magesi have announced that John Maduka takes over as head coach, replacing Da Gama. Maduka was in charge of the now-defunct Royal AM last season.

He arrives at the club shortly after they announced the exit of 10 players. They include Gift Motupa, Neverdie Makhubela, Deolin Mekoa, Rhulani Manzini, Amos Mokwena, Boikanyo Komane, Maboke Matlakala, Anathi Ngwadla, Given Mashikinya, and Menzi Ndwandwe.
