Edson Castillo has parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs following a mutual agreement between the club and the player to terminate his contract.
The Venezuelan winger was not among the players who travelled to the Netherlands on Thursday night for the pre-season tour, which will last for the next two weeks.
Castilloโs journey with the club began brightly in July 2023 when he joined under coach Molefi Ntseki, netting five goals and making 32 appearances that season. However, his impact beyond those goals did not significantly benefit the team.
In his second season, a fractured fibula limited him to just seven appearances, and even when fit, he struggled to make a convincing impact. The 31-year-old, who recently signed a one-year extension with an option to renew, returned late in the season but failed to impress the technical team.
With the recent signing of SuperSport United star Siphesihle Ndlovu, the club has terminated his contract. Castillo is exploring new opportunities, with his representatives actively seeking a club for him in the off-season.

Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi was always open to letting him go, considering that his exit opens up opportunities for the signing of a foreign player. His departure gives the club increased flexibility in the transfer market, allowing them to strengthen the squad with a new foreign recruit for the upcoming season.
WHO ELSE HAS LEFT KAIZER CHIEFS BESIDES EDSON CASTILLO
The club recently part company with Ranga Chivaviro, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Sabelo Radebe, Bongani Sam and Edmilson Dove. Chivaviro and Doveโs contracts came to an end, while Sabelo Radebe, Sam and Mdantsane had mutual terminations.
They have also signed attacking midfielder Ethan Chislett, left-backs Nkanyiso Shinga and Paseka Mako, as well as right-back Thabiso Monyane. Amakhosi also brought in a Portuguese striker, Flavio Silva.
Meanwhile, the Soweto giants are reportedly searching for a central defensive midfielder who is both ball-playing and defensively adept. The club has cast a wide net and is reportedly open to considering players from outside the club.
