Mxolisi Macuphu has now joined the growing list of players who have parted company with Richards Bay FC following the end of the 2024/25 season.

The departure of the 36-year-old striker brings an end to his brief six-month spell with the Natal Rich Boyz. He had only joined the club at the start of 2025, moving from the now-defunct Royal AM.

He had signed for Richards Bay on a free transfer after he requested a transfer from Thwihli Thwahla due to the clubโ€™s failure to pay salaries in December and other financial issues, including outstanding debt for signing-on fees.

Macuphu made eight Betway Premiership appearances for Richards Bay. He started only two of these matches, coming off the bench in the remaining six.

MACUPHU LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNITIES ELSEWHERE

This website has been informed that the striker is now unattached as he looks for opportunities elsewhere ahead of the start of the 2025/26 season. He follows several players who have made their way out of the KZN-based club.

As previously reported, Somila Ntsundwana recently concluded his tenure of more than four years with the Jomo Biyela-owned side, having officially left the club.

Heโ€™s currently training with Chippa United, while Sekhukhune United have also enquired about his services, looking to strengthen their attacking options for the next campaign.

Before Ntsundwana’s exit, Richards Bay had already bid farewell to Justice Figareido and Thabiso Kutumela. Both players are reportedly in advanced talks to join Chippa United.

Richards Bay also released Siboniso Conco, whose contract was terminated after just one season with the club. He had joined at the beginning of the previous season.

The club also suffered significant losses with the departures of Yanela Mbuthuma and Nkosinathi Ndaba, who had signed with Orlando Pirates. Meanwhile, Keegan Allanย moved on, having penned a pre-contract with AmaZulu FC back in January.

Thato Mohlamme was also let go upon returning for the new season. He was told that he was not in the clubโ€™s future plans.

Other players who have headed out are Siyabonga Dube, Austin Dube and Romario Dlamini.
