Algerian side JS Kabylie interested in Pirates’ Karim Kimvuidi
Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Karim Kimvuidi is understood to have drawn interest from Algerian outfit JS Kabylie, FARPost has learned.
The DRC international has been with the Buccaneers for the past two seasons, having joined them from Maritzburg United [now rebranded as Durban City FC].
Kimvuidi’s move to the Soweto giants came at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, following Maritzburg’s relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
In his debut season with the Sea Robbers, he started eight times out of 22 matches across all competitions, managing to score two goals.
His second campaign proved challenging in terms of minutes on the pitch, as he started just twice in all competitions despite featuring in 15 matches and contributing only one goal.
After a last campaign where his impact was limited by a lack of game time, Kimvuidi has reportedly landed on the radar of JS Kabylie, who are actively searching for an attacking midfielder.
KABYLIE UNWILLING TO SPEND SIGNIFICANTLY ON THE PLAYER
However, FARPost sources indicate that Kabylie are unwilling to spend significantly to acquire the player’s services. It remains to be seen whether the club will make an enquiry with the Buccaneers.
Meanwhile, Pirates have bid farewell to some players while welcoming several new faces, as they fine-tune their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Ezimnyama Ngenkani didn’t renew the contract of their captain, Innocent Maela, who has reportedly been offered a non-playing role within the club.
Maela recently played a key role in Pirates’ induction process, welcoming the new signings. He performed the task along with a group of Buccaneers legends, including Lucky Lekgwathi, Tebogo Moloi, Happy Jele, Edward Motale, and Brighton Mhlongo.
Pirates also released Miguel Timm, who had spent three seasons with the club. He’s been linked with a move to Sekhukhune United.
Further, the club parted company with Paseka Mako and Thabo Monyane, who were recently unveiled by Kaizer Chiefs as new signings.
On the other hand, Pirates have welcomed Sipho Mbule, Sihle Nduli, Kabelo Kgositsile, Yanela Mbuthuma, Tshepang Moremi, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Masindi Nemtajela, Tshepho Mashiloane and Oswin Appollis.
