Gauteng’s Gomora United have clinched the 2024/25 ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs title after defeating The Bees FC from Mpumalanga 2-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
There was peace and harmony after a week filled with drama and countless legal disputes, after SAFA NEC decided to continue with the playoffs with seven teams.
This came after Limpopo and the Eastern Cape were banned from participating in this yearโs ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, due to their respective pending judicial matters.
The fansโ cheers and chants in the stands were simply invaluable as the Johnny Ferreira-coached team celebrated their victory over the Mpumalanga side.

GOMORA UNITED LEADING THE BEES AT HALF-TIME
Gomora broke the deadlock in the 21st minute of the showdown through Xola โShebeโ Mosiea. Nonetheless, Kruger aimed to regain momentum in their quest for an equaliser before the half-time break, but it wasn’t destined to happen.
The match went into the break with a 1-0 lead for Gomora. The second stanza was full of action, with the Mpumalanga-based team seeking to level matters.
However, Gomora maintained their composure even under the mounting pressure from their opponents. Their back four were very disciplined and solid.
Moses โJomoโ Mokasi doubled Gomoraโs lead in the 50th minute of the contest. This made things difficult for the Bees to come back into the match.
However, the Humphrey Mlwane’s boys managed to pull one back in the 82nd minute of the match. But it was already too late to find an equaliser and take the game to the penalty shootout.
In the end, it was Gomora who lifted the national playoffs trophy and made the people of Gauteng province proud.
Gomora walked away with the R1 2000 000 prize money, whereas the Bees pocketed R600 000.
The Bees and Gomora will now compete in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, along with Midlands Wanderers of KZN, after they finished as the top three finalists in the competition.
