Three new PSL teams have been confirmed following the conclusion of the semi-finals and 3rd and 4th place playoffs of the 2024/25 SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.

The semi-finals took place on Saturday, 5 July, whereas the 3rd and 4th playoff encounter was played on Sunday, 6 July 2025.

However, before the start of the semi-finals, the SAFA arbitration ruled that the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs Group A match between Zizwe United [Western Cape] and Midlands Wanderers [KZN] be replayed to determine the best runners-up and a fourth team for the semi-finals.

This came after Wanderers lodged a protest on Friday, 4 July. The issue was that Zizwe and Wanderers finished with one point each in Group A. Therefore, it was decided that the two teams should face each other again and the winner will advance to the semis.

The replay match between the two sides ended in a 4-0 scoreline in favour of Wanderers. The rematch took place at 11:00 on Saturday morning at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Attridgeville.

Following the Wanderers’ victory against Zizwe, the side was scheduled to face Gomora United [Gauteng] in the second semi-final of the tournament at 18:30, on Saturday evening.

The first semi-final match between The Bees [Mpumalanga] and Thames [North West] took place at 15:00 yesterday.

THE BEES, GOMORA UNITED AND MIDLANDS WANDERERS SECURE PROMOTIONS TO MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP

The Bees FC were promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship following their 4-2 win over Thames on penalties in the first semi-final. The game ended 0-0 in regulation time.

Meanwhile, Gomora, coached by well-travelled mentor Johnny Ferreira, managed to beat Wanderers 1-0 in the second semi-final to earn a promotion to the SA football second-tier.

As a result, the Bees will go head-to-head with Gomora in the final on this afternoon. The game will start at 15:00.

However, before the final game on Sunday, there was the 3rd and 4th place showdown between Thames FC and Wanderers. The showpiece started at 11:00 in the morning.

Wanderers defeated Thames 2-1 to be promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship because of Royal AM’s expulsion from the PSL.
