Talented winger Bokang Mokwena has completed his move to the newly promoted KZN side Durban City FC from Motsepe Foundation Championship club Upington City FC.

Durban City are working hard behind the scenes to build a strong squad for the upcoming season following their promotion to the Betway Premiership after clinching the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship title.

During the 2023/24 season, the 24-year-old Mokwena was a standout performer for Upington City. He proved to be a consistently reliable goalscorer, finding the back of the net an impressive 12 times in his 28 league appearances.

Beyond his scoring prowess, Mokwena also showcased his playmaking ability, contributing five assists throughout the campaign – truly highlighting his role as a key attacking force for the team.

P MANAGEMENT SPORTS AGENCY ON BOKANG MOKWENA’S TRANSFER TO DURBAN CITY FC

After four days of speculation, FARPost’s initial report that Bokang Mokwena would be joining the KwaZulu-Natal side has been officially confirmed. His agency, P Management Sports Agency, finally broke the silence on Tuesday, verifying that their client has indeed completed his move to Durban City FC.

“Congratulations to Trevor Bokang Mokwena for securing a contract with Durban City FC,” said the agency in a statement. However, Durban City are yet to make any official statement about the acquisition of the rising star.

Meanwhile, following their promotion to the Premiership, Durban City parted ways with head coach Simon Dladla, the very man who steered them to the Betway Premiership.

Just a few days after severing ties with Durban City, Dladla was announced as the new assistant coach for AmaZulu FC, where he’ll now collaborate with Usuthu head coach Arthur Zwane.

Following Dladla’s departure from the club, the side is set to hire Gavin Hunt as their new head coach, while Ernst Middendorp is expected to assume the technical director position, as previously reported by FARPost.
