Newly promoted Betway Premiership side Durban City FC has officially announced the appointment of Gavin Hunt as their new head coach, as previously reported by FARPost.

The four-time Premiership-winning coach joins the KwaZulu-Natal outfit after a brief hiatus from the dugout. Hunt parted ways with SuperSport United in March 2025 following a string of unfavorable results, an exit that came shortly after he marked his remarkable 1000th game in a managerial career.

Durban City FC confirmed Hunt’s appointment in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach steps in to replace Simo Dladla, who recently parted ways with the club despite guiding them to the Betway Premiership by winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.

Dladla has since joined AmaZulu FC as assistant coach, with Arthur Zwane continuing in his role as head coach at the club.
