Newly appointed Magesi FC coach John Maduka has issued an explanation on why he opted against bringing his own assistant to the club.
Maduka was officially unveiled as the head coach of Magesi last week to take over from Owen Da Gama, who surprisingly left the club.
Da Gama guided the side to a 13th-place finish in the Betway Premiership after taking over in December 2024.
Maduka has been without a club since Royal AM’s membership in the Premier Soccer League was terminated earlier this year. He officially began his tenure with the Carling Knockout champions last week.
NEW MAGESI FC COACH JOHN MADUKA ON WHY HE DIDN’T BRING HIS OWN ASSISTANT
“You don’t just break something if it’s not necessary for you to do so,” Maduka explained to Journalists.
“I strongly believe that the technical team that is still here is a technical team that has been there for a long time. They helped the team to be promoted from the ABC [Motsepe League] to the NFD, all the way to the Premiership.

“So I strongly believe that these coaches are not people who are just there. They know what they are doing, and they know their job. If I don’t need to bring someone else, then I don’t think it’s necessary,” he said.
COACH OF BETWAY PREMIERSHIP SIDE BELIEVES THERE IS NO NEED TO REINFORCE AS YET
“If it’s needed for us, as a collective and a team, to say we want to reinforce the technical team, then we can do so. But for now, we are very happy with the technical team that we have.
“Remember that sometimes you reinforce it just to make sure that you have a strong technical staff that can be able to help you achieve your goals.”
As it stands, Maduka will be assisted by Jacky Ledwaba and Timothy Madia who worked with Da Gama.
