Bafana Bafana and Aris Limassol winger Mihlali Mayambela has spoken out about his transfer talks to join Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership.
The Glamour Boys have aggressively entered the current transfer window, bringing in several quality players as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Chiefs are seemingly determined to turn their fortunes around under the guidance of head coach Nasreddine Nabi, following an inconsistent run in the previous campaign. Theyย endured a dismal finish to the 2024/25 season, failing to secure a top-eight spot in the league table. They ended up ninth, with 32 points from 28 matches.
However, Chiefs did manage to end their 10-year trophy drought by clinching the 2025 Nedbank Cup. The Naturena-based side defeated arch-rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium to lift the coveted trophy.
To build on their Nedbank Cup success, Chiefs have been active in the transfer market, securing players like Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Flavio Silva, Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, and Siphesihle Ndlovu ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Adding to the transfer buzz, reports surfaced a few weeks ago linking Mihlali Mayambela with a move to Chiefs ahead of the new season. The talented Bafana Bafana winger currently plays for Aris Limassol FC in Cyprus’ top-flight.
MAYAMBELA CONFIRMS TALKS WITH KAIZER MOTAUNG JR

Mayambela has broken his silence regarding the Kaizer Chiefs transfer rumours, confirming that talks did occur between him and the club’s sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr.
“There was a conversation [about moving to Chiefs], you know the club is also moving in a different direction,” Mayambela said on SoccerBeat.
“You can see with the signings they’ve made now, they’re busy trying to put out a strong team, but also I’m in a place where I don’t need to move if there is no need to move.
“I’m playing every game, I have a big role to play in my team, and I’m respected here, but there’s interest from Chiefs. There were talks between me and the sporting director.
“And he’s doing his job, you can see that he’s trying to build a squad that can compete and bring the glory days. So I don’t know when it will happen, will it happen? I can say yes more than a no. But I don’t know when because it doesn’t only depend on me.”
