New Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Ethan Chislett has opened up about his highly anticipated move to the Soweto giants, sharing his thoughts on joining Amakhosi.

The Durban-born player joins the Betway Premiership side after spending most of his playing career in England, as well as a stint in Spain.

Most recently, he helped Port Vale FC gain promotion to English League One before leaving the club.

Chislett put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the club, with an option for an additional year, as previously reported by FARPost.

The creative attacking midfielder has linked up with his new Chiefs teammates. He’s currently with the squad at their pre-season training camp in the Netherlands, preparing for the upcoming season.

Chislett is one of several new faces at Amakhosi, joining fellow new signings such as Flavio Silva, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako and Siphesihle Ndlovu.

NEW KAIZER CHIEFS SIGNING REFLECTS ON HIS FIRST FEW DAYS AT THE CLUB

Chislett has revealed his first impressions after joining the club. Despite the inherent challenges of settling into a new team, he expressed immense satisfaction and optimism about his early days with Amakhosi.

โ€œJoining a new club is never the easiest thing in the world. You have to adapt,โ€ said Chislett. โ€œBut since I joined, everyone has been amazing, and I am so happy here. This is why I love South Africa; everyone smiles.

โ€œIโ€™d like to say I am fitting in really well. Itโ€™s a credit to my new teammates and the management staff for welcoming me so warmly. Itโ€™s a really exciting time for me, and I am looking to attack these challenges head-on,โ€ he added.

ETHAN CHISLETT PROMISES TO RISE TO THE OCCASION AT THE GLAMOUR BOYS

The 26-year-old is beaming with confidence and insists he has what it takes to rise to the occasion for Amakhosi.

โ€œI appreciate creativity, but the bottom line is you have to score goals to win games,โ€ declared Chislett. โ€œIโ€™d like to think I can rise to the occasion when called upon to make a decisive contribution for my team, and thatโ€™s what motivates me.โ€

Chiefs fans in South Africa will have a chance to watch Chislett and his teammates when they take on Asante Kotoko SC in the Toyota Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, 26 July.

Speaking about the prospect of playing in front of his hometown fans in Durban, he said, โ€œIt will probably be surreal. Itโ€™s something Iโ€™ll look back on. Sometimes when youโ€™re in the moment, you donโ€™t take everything in, but afterwards it will fully sink in

โ€œI came to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup and watched a match in that stadium, so itโ€™s going to be unreal for me, and my family, to play there.โ€
