Striker Thabang Sibanyoni has been training with the newly-promoted Betway Premiership Durban City FC after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.ย
The striker’s departure from the Brazilians was confirmed early this week, as his exit was announced alongside those of Sipho Mbule, Lucas Suarez, Sanele Tshabalala, and Sifiso Ngobeni.
Sibanyoni came through Sundowns’ development. He was promoted to the senior team at the start of the 2019/20 season. However, he left the club without making a single appearance.
SIBANYONI RESURFACES AT DURBAN CITY
While it remains uncertain whether he has signed with โThe Citizensโ, Sibanyoni has joined the Durban-based team in training as they are preparing for the 2025/26 season under the new coach, Gavin Hunt.

During his time with Bafana Ba Style, Sibanyoni was loaned out seven times, playing for various clubs across two leagues. His first taste of action after being promoted was with JDR Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The following season, he remained in the same league, spending the entire campaign with Sekhukhune United, eventually celebrating their promotion to the top-flight.
In the 2021/22 season, Sibanyoni spent six months with his parent club before embarking on another loan to AmaTuks mid-season. Upon his return, he made a move to SuperSport United for the 2022/23 campaign, only to rejoin AmaTuks again in the following season, where he had a notably impressive stint.
His most recent season saw him loaned out to two different clubs. The first half of last season was spent at Richards Bay FC, where he admittedly struggled for regular playing time. However, a crucial move in January this year saw him join Magesi FC.
There, under the guidance of Owen Da Gama, he played a pivotal role in helping the club avoid relegation, contributing two goals in the 12 appearances he made for Dikwena tลกa Meetse.
