AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has offered a confident outlook on his team, issuing a bold statement about what the club wants to achieve.
Usuthu finished the previous season in sixth place in the Betway Premiership standings, having accumulated 35 points from 28 league matches.
Known for being ambitious, Zungu has promised the club’s fans that AmaZulu will soon hoist a trophy, ending a 33-year trophy drought.
He added that the club aims to go back to playing continental football, having participated in the CAF Champions League in the 2021/23 season under Benni McCarthy.

“I can promise the fans of Usuthu, we will lift a trophy very soon,” said Zungu during the interview with Prime Time Sport with Victor Molefe on UKhozi FM.
“I can promise the club’s faithful, one of these seasons, we will lift a trophy. And in Africa, we will return there.”
Zungu stated that they have confidence in the technical team that’s led by Arthur Zwane, who arrived in the middle of the 2024/25 season.
He continued, “We have confidence in our technical team; we can see there’s something they are capable of.”
“The new players that we are going to announce, you can see there is a lot of hunger and desire to succeed with this club.”

When asked about player transfers, AmaZulu boss Sandile Zungu stated that the club plans to confirm both its new signings and the venues for its home matches for the next campaign before the end of the month.
“We are not yet ready to unveil the new faces that are in the camp right now because of different reasons,” added Zungu.
“One of them is that there are players who are still trying their luck, and we will reveal their names and the next thing, they are gone if the coaches decide against signing them.
“Number two, we are still in the market and speaking with a couple of players. We might get them, we might not.
“Before we play our first competitive match, which is the MTN8 quarter-final against Stellenbosch FC, we will announce new signings and venues for home games for the next season.”
