Durban City FC have decided against signing former Richards Bay FC forward Thabiso Kutumela who has been training with the team recently.

The 32-year-old was being assessed by the newly-promoted side last week after departing the Natal Rich Boyz at the end of the previous season.

Kutumela ended a one-season stay at Richards Bay following the expiration of his contract. He had joined them in July last year after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The former Baroka FC man struggled for playing time at Bay, making only 11 appearances and scoring only one goal in the process.

KUTUMELA REMAINS FREE AGENT AS CITY ISN’T IMPRESSED

A few weeks ago, Kutumela was heavily linked with Chippa United before his assessment at Durban City. He remains a free agent after not agreeing on personal terms with the KZN side.

Meanwhile, the KZN side has won the race to sign striker Thabang Sibanyoni who, just like Kutumela, also spent the last week training with the Gavin Hunt-led side.

This follows the departure of the centre-forward from Mamelodi Sundowns last week, leaving the club along with Sipho Mbule, Lucas Suarez, Sanele Tshabalala, and Sifiso Ngobeni.

Sibanyoni came through Sundowns’ development. He was promoted to the senior team at the start of the 2019/20 season. However, he left the club without making a single appearance.

During his time with Bafana Ba Style, Sibanyoni was loaned out seven times, playing for various clubs across two leagues.

He turned out for SuperSport United [twice], Sekhukhune United, Pretoria University, Richards Bay, and most recently, Magesi FC.

Moreover, as previously reported by FARPost, Durban City are set to sign for Cape Town City duo Haashim Domingo and Darren Keet who arrived in Durban on Sunday afternoon.

Both players are poised to link up once again with coach Gavin Hunt who recently assumed leadership from Simo Dladla. Hunt had previously mentored both players during his successful tenure at Bidvest Wits.
