Community spirit and a passion for football united in Mamelodi as FARPost and Lucky Star launched a transformative two-day program that empowered local coaches and addressed vital social issues.

The program began on April 17th with important school visits across Mamelodi. FARPost and Lucky Star representatives directly engaged with students, leading vital discussions on pressing social issues such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and drug awareness.

These proactive sessions were designed to empower young people with knowledge, helping to create a safer, more informed, and resilient generation capable of making positive decisions. The focus on prevention and awareness resonated strongly within the school communities, laying a solid foundation for future initiatives.

On April 18th, a highly anticipated coaching seminar was held, and a remarkable 50 local coaches attended. The youth coaches demonstrated an unwavering commitment to their craft and enthusiastically participated.

The seminar was expertly spearheaded by former SAFA technical director Walter Steenbok, whose insights are highly sought after in South African football circles. Steenbok was ably supported by an esteemed panel of coaching stalwarts, including Thomas Nare and Edward Motale. Former international referee Victor Hlongwane also held sessions on refereeing.

Their collective experience and passion for the game provided an invaluable learning experience, empowering local coaches with advanced techniques and strategic approaches. The presence and endorsement of both the Local Football Association (LFA) and the Tshwane Football Association underscored the professional significance of the seminar, reinforcing the commitment to grassroots football development.

A vibrant kids’ soccer clinic saw 260 eager youngsters take to the field, their faces alight with excitement. Lucky Star, understanding the importance of holistic development, ensured the children were not only entertained but also well-nourished, providing nutritious meals before the clinic and additional meals to take home.
