Sekhukhune United chairman Simon Malatji has clarified the club’s stance regarding international offers for left-back Vuyo Letlapa.
The talented Bafana Bafana defender has caught the attention of Austrian club Wien, which has been monitoring his progress since his debut in the Betway Premiership.
Letlapa joined Babina Noko at the start of last season from the ABC Motsepe side Jomo Cosmos. He has enjoyed an incessant rise, also making his Bafana debut at the 2025 COSAFA Cup. Malatji confirmed that there were offers for the 21-year-old which the club rejected.
WHAT IS SEKHUKHUNE UNITED’S STANCE ON VUYO LETLAPA?
“Yes, offers came forth. However, we realised that he still needs to remain, either now or next season, so that he can improve to a better quality. It’s always our call that anyone who wants to grow must be given an opportunity,” Malatji told journalists on the sidelines of the club’s kit sponsorship announcement.

The defender from Bushbuckridge has vowed not to be swept away by the overseas interest.
“When it comes to interest or offers, whether from local or overseas clubs, it motivates me to keep pushing and working hard. Whatever they see in me, I need to ensure they continue seeing it,” Letlapa told FARPost.
“I must not get big-headed because of the interest, but instead I must work harder. It helps me maintain a high performance. If it’s not a done deal, I don’t entertain them until it’s signed and sealed. For now, it’s still rumours, I haven’t signed anywhere. I’m still under contract with Sekhukhune United.”
He is convinced that his overseas dream will come true when the time is right. “When I go overseas, if it’s possible, then settling is not impossible. If I get the help that I need, I can do well. I am ready,” he added.
“I believe being overseas, when the time is right, I will go there. It’s everyone’s dream to go overseas. I believe I will, when the time is right.”
