Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has reflected on his coaching journey and progress at his budding Kitoko Soccer School.
Katsande has been touring Zimbabwe with his Under-20 squad, where they have played against teams from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
They played against Triangle United FC, TelOne FC, Kwekwe United FC, Dynamos FC, and Manica Diamonds FC. The team also played against a lower-tier league side, FC Hunters.
Katsande’s Kitoko Soccer School already has two players in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League. The duo of Sibusiso Ndlovu and Tapiwa Muhwirindwa are in the books of Manica Diamonds.

WHAT WILLARD KATSANDE SAID
And Katsande, who also played for Sekhukhune United, is leaving no stone unturned to make a mark as a coach. He is currently undertaking CAF C coaching course.
Speaking to FARPost, during his tour in Zimbabwe, the 39-year-old said he is utilising the chance to market his youthful players as well as learn the ropes in coaching.
“We want to thank all PSL teams [in Zimbabwe]. They accepted our invitation. We are a soccer school team whichh is almost three years old. And the whole idea is to expose these kids to see how far they are in terms of benchmark, where they want to be as footballers,” Katsande told FARPost.
“So when you bring them here it’s not about the result, it’s about them exposing themselves with the quality teams like this [PSL]. We played Triangle, we played Kwekwe United. It’s a good thing to give the younger boys and also maybe for the PSL team to see something, a raw talent.”
Katsande added: “These are the players they are going to try and bring on board and to polish their potential. But the bottom line is for me as a young coach and I have an ambition to do well in the future, to see how far I am in terms of the tactics.
“So when the boys are coming and playing high-profile teams like this and they perform well, it gives us something. It’s like okay, we’re doing well. The most important thing is to learn. In football you learn every day, actually in life you learn every day.”
