Polokwane City FC are set to sign Thabelo Tshikweta, who was previously in the books of Venda FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Tshikweta was recently released by the Vhembe club ahead of the 2025/26 PSL campaign.
The talented striker joined Venda FC in July 2023 from the SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Mpheni Defenders, where he captained the side.
Before joining the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Venda FC, Tshikweta was instrumental in helping Mpheni secure victory in the ABC Motsepe League provincial playoffs. They defeated the Dolphins 1-0 at the Oscar Mpetha Stadium in Turfloop [University of Limpopo] in 2023.
Their win allowed them to participate in the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, representing Limpopo province. The 2022/23 national playoffs took place in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
Unfortunately, Mpheni were eliminated in the semi-finals of the national playoffs by Upington City FC of the Northern Cape. City won 3-2 on penalties. The game ended in a 1-1 tie in regulation time. This was the year that saw Bafana Ba Gucci promoted to the SA football second-tier.
However, during his two-year stint at Venda FC, Tshikweta struggled for game time. This led to the two parties agreeing to go their separate ways.
