Former Orlando Pirates star resurfaces at Siwelele FC

Xola Mlambo warming up at Marumo Gallants

Former Orlando Pirates star Xola Mlambo has resurfaced at the new Betway Premiership club Siwelele FC as he eyes a return to competitive football.

The talented midfielder is a free agent after parting ways with Marumo Gallants in February 2025. Mlambo spent a few months with the Bahlabane Ba Ntwa after signing at the start of the previous season.

He joined Gallants during the tenure of head coach Dan Malesela, who also took the coaching job at the beginning of the last campaign.

After Malesela was shown the exit door in the second round of the season, Mlambo’s contract was also terminated. The experienced mentor played a major role in luring the skilful midfielder to the club.

With the Mlambo eyeing a return to action in South Africaโ€™s top-flight, he is trying his luck at Siwelele, a new club that purchased the status of SuperSport United.

According to information gathered by FARPost, Mlambo is part of the players being assessed by the newly formed team.

Before having a stint with Gallants, the 34-year-old spent the 2023/24 season without a club after parting ways with TS Galaxy in 2023.

‘Ten Ten’ also had stints with Chippa United, Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates, and AmaZulu FC. His best spell was with the now-defunct Wits, where he won the league title in the 2016/17 campaign.

“Xola Mlambo is training with Siwelele, as you know that he doesn’t have a team since leaving Marumo Gallants earlier this year,” a source said.

“Mlambo is a quality player and I’m sure he will use this opportunity to impress so that he can continue showcasing what he’s capable of.”

Meanwhile, Mlambo’s former teammate at Wits, Buhle Mkhwanazi, is also training with Siwelele, looking to earn a contract. The centre-back last played in the elite league when he turned out for Matsatsantsa in the 2021/22 season.
