Former SuperSport United defender Thulani Hlatshwayo is among the new faces that have arrived at the newly-promoted Betway Premiership side Durban City FC.
The 35-year-old centre-back parted company with Matsatsantsa upon the end of his contract at the conclusion of the previous season.
The expiry of his contract coincided with the sale of the clubโs status to Siwelele FC, with the Swanky Boysโ over 30-year era coming to an end.
He had joined them at the start of the 2022/23 season from Orlando Pirates, reuniting with the clubโs new head coach, Gavin Hunt, who had coached him at Bidvest Wits.
Hlatshwayo is on the verge of reuniting with coach Hunt again at the KZN side. He’s set to join on a free transfer after a three-season stint with the now-defunct SuperSport.

THULANI HLATSHWAYO SPOTTED WITH DURBAN CITY IN KZN
The former Bafana Bafana captain attended Durban City’s pre-season friendly match against Golden Arrows in Durban. However, he didn’t participate in the game.
Hlatshwayo joins a couple of experienced players who are currently training with the club as they continue to prepare for whatโs promising to be a challenging season for them in the top-flight.ย
As previously reported, former Cape Town City FC star Thabo Nodada was one of the players who took part in the friendly match against Arrows, turning out for Durban City.
Further, Nodada reunited with two former Cape Town City teammates, Haashim Domingo and Darren Keet, who also left Cape Town City following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship via the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs.
Domingo and Keet joined the club at the start of the week. Durban City FC have also welcomed Brooklyn Poggenpoel, who was, just like Hlatshwayo, with SuperSport last season.
