Chippa United are close to concluding a deal to sign former Royal AM winger Sisanda Mbhele for the upcoming Betway Premiership season.

The Chilli Boys are making major changes to their squad after finishing the previous season outside of the top eight on the league table.

Chippa finished the 2024/25 campaign in the 11th position after winning eight games, drawing seven, and losing 13 times in 22 matches.

After the conclusion of last season, Chippa released 18 players, including big names such as Andile Jali, Justice Chabalala, Bienvenu Eva Nga, and Baraka Majogoro.

In a bid to build a strong team, United made changes in the coaching department after appointing Sinethemba Badela as the head coach.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor is taking over the coaching role from Thabo September, who left after the expiry of his contract last month.

The Gqeberha-based side made another significant acquisition after hiring a former Kaizer Chiefs scout, Sinesipho Mali, as its sporting director.

CHIPPA HAVE ALREADY SIGNED SEVERAL KEY PLAYERS

Chippa have made their intentions clear to compete after signing Goodman Mosele, Azola Tshobeni, Abdoulaye Mariko, Bandile Dlamini, Justice Figuareido, and Khaya Mfencane.

With United seemingly not done with the signing of new players, they’re assessing former Royal AM attacker Sisanda Mbhele.

The talented winger came through the AM’s DStv Diski Challenge side, and he was promoted to the first team in the 2023/24 season. Mbhele is a player who has the pace and skill to unlock defenders.

Meanwhile, the Chippa Mpengesi-owned team is also assessing former Sundowns attacker Keabetswe Ramotsei. In the previous season, Ramotsei had a spell with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda FC after parting ways with Sundowns.

The highly-rated forward initially joined Venda FC on loan before the Brazilians terminated his contract in January 2025. The Limpopo side signed Ramotsei on a short-term contract for the remainder of the season.
