Ex-Leopards keeper linked with a move to Polokwane City

FARPost has established that Betway Premiership side Polokwane City FC is set to sign former Black Leopards goalkeeper Mashudu Makhavhu.

Makhavhu was among the players who parted ways with the Motsepe Foundation Championship club – Leopards at the end of last season.

He had been part of ‘Lidoda Duvha’ since the 2022/23 season. The 23-year-old featured in 17 games for the club in the three seasons.

This publication has further established that Makhavhu has been training with ‘Rise and Shine’ for the past few weeks.

His arrival comes on the back of an exit of the clubโ€™s number one goalkeeper Manuel Sapunga. Sapunga left Polokwane City to join Sekhukhune United.

The Equatorial Guinea international spent three years at the club before his surprise departure at the end of the 2024/25 season.

It now appears as if Polokwane City have moved swiftly to look for his replacement with the imminent signing of the talented former Black Leopards shot stopper, Makhavhu.

NEW ARRIVALS AT POLOKWANE CITY AHEAD OF THE NEW SEASON

Meanwhile, as FARPost had earlier reported, former Venda FC forward Thabelo Tshikweta has also been training with Polokwane City. Tshikweta spent the past two seasons at the club before his departure at the end of last season.

Another former Venda FC player who has reportedly joined Polokwane City is Rudzani Thobo. The right winger has also been with Venda FC since 2021. The three players join a long list of other players who are set to join the club ahead of the upcoming season.

This includes the four players that the club signed from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies. The players are Mpho Mvundlela, Keorapetse Sebone, Keagile Malepe and Saketso Steven Moremi.
