Betway Premiership newcomers Siwelele FC have decided against offering contracts to experienced midfielders Xola Mlambo and Kamohelo Mahlatsi following their recent trials.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates duo had been training with the club for several weeks, hoping to impress the technical team and secure a deal. However, Siwelele ultimately opted not to sign them.
Siwelele FC, who recently acquired SuperSport United’s top-flight status, will be based in Gauteng for the upcoming season before making a permanent move to Bloemfontein.
The club has been busy building its squad and recently appointed Lehlohonolo Seema as head coach, with Andre Arendse and Grant Johnson joining as assistant and goalkeeper coaches, respectively.
As part of their efforts to assemble a competitive team, Siwelele invited several seasoned players for trials, including Mlambo and Mahlatsi, both of whom are free agents after leaving Marumo Gallants last season.
SIWELELE FC NOT SIGNING MLAMBO AND MAHLATSI
After the arrival of Seema, Mlambo and Mahlatsi have stopped training with Siwelele, and indications are that they won’t be given contracts.

‘Ten Ten’ played for teams such as Chippa United, Bidvest Wits, Pirates, AmaZulu FC, TS Galaxy, and Marumo Gallants.
Mlambo has over 150 appearances in the SA top-flight, and he has the league title under his name after winning it in the 2016/17 season with Wits.
On the other hand, Mahlatsi is also well-travelled, having turned out for SuperSport United, Moroka Swallows, Chiefs, Chippa United, and Gallants.
Mlambo and Mahlatsi will continue their search for new teams, aiming to secure deals before the upcoming season commences.
Meanwhile, Siwelele are also assessing former Bafana Bafana international Buhle Mkhwanazi, and he could be signed as a replacement for Thulani Hlatshwayo, who is heading to Durban City FC.
