Former Chippa United reliable defender Thabo Makhele was spotted at the newly acquired Siwelele FC, with decisions seemingly made regarding Kwanda Mngonyama and Buhle Mkhwanazi.

The Betway Premiershipโ€™s new entrants, Siwelele, are reshaping their squad after acquiring the status of SuperSport United ahead of the new season.

The club has been assessing several players as it reorganises following key departures from SuperSport. Siphesihle Ndlovu has joined Kaizer Chiefs, Thulani Hlatshwayo is training with Durban City FC, and Terrence Dzvukamanja has started his stint at Scotland FC in Zimbabwe.

On the other hand, veteran midfielder Xola Mlambo and Kamohelo Mahlatsi were assessed alongside Keagan Dolly and Mngonyama.

FARPost reported this week that the club has decided against signing Mlambo and Mahlatsi, while Dollyโ€™s future remains uncertain. Both Mlambo and Mahlatsi immediately stopped training.

WHAT IS THE UPDATE ON MAKHELE, MKHWANAZI AND MNGONYAMA

Mngonyama, who was named in Bafana Bafanaโ€™s CHAN squad, is unlikely to sign with Siwelele. Meanwhile, Mkhwanazi impressed in a friendly match against Stellenbosch FC and is close to returning to professional football after a lengthy spell away.

Thabo Makhele, who showcased consistent performances last season, was recently seen training with Siwelele. He is currently a free agent after his contract with Chippa United ended. With reported interest from Kaizer Chiefs, Makhele chose not to extend his stay.

The 30-year-old has resurfaced at Siwelele and will be evaluated before a final decision is made. He was one of Chippa Unitedโ€™s standout performers this season, and his reliability is evident in his consistent performances under various coaches.

Makhele featured in 30 games across all competitions, providing one assist for the club. The former South Africa youth international, now representing Lesotho, initially played for Matsatsantsa early in his career.

He was also part of the TS Galaxy team that won the 2018/19 Nedbank Cup. An added advantage for Siwelele is that he would be registered as a local player if signed. The versatile player can also slot in at defensive midfield.
