Relebogile Mokhuoane’s Sekhukhune exit imminent, Siwelele circles

Relebogile Mokhuoane could be on the move, as there are indications that he is not part of Eric Tinkler’s plans at Sekhukhune United. Interestingly, the former Free State Stars midfielder was released by Tinkler at Cape Town City FC.

He moved to Sekhukhune United in a deal that saw Kamohelo Mokotjo move in the opposite direction ahead of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season. The Harrismith-born star was a regular player before Tinkler arrived at Babina Noko.

Tinkler was unveiled on 12 March 2025 by Sekhukhune, and afterwards, Mokhuoane did not appear in the final eight games of the season. Overall, last season, the 30-year-old appeared in 20 matches for Babina Noko, netting two goals and contributing one assist.

Mokhuoane signed a two-year contract with Sekhukhune, and he still has one season remaining. However, as the club prepares for the upcoming season, it appears his future lies elsewhere.

WHAT NEXT FOR RELEBOGILE MOKHUOANE?

The club is reportedly in negotiations to finalise his departure through a mutual agreement. Before SuperSport United sold their status, they reportedly showed interest in him. Interestingly, Siwelele, who acquired their Betway Premiership status, has just lost Chad international midfielder Éric Mbangossoum.

His departure follows that of another hardworking midfielder, Siphesihle Ndlovu, who moved to Kaizer Chiefs. Grant Margeman remains sidelined with an injury that kept him out last season.

Mbangossoum, who arrived in South Africa last season after four years in the Botola Pro with Union Touarga, has now joined Chippa United. Mokhuoane could be a valuable addition for Siwelele, especially since the newly appointed coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, has previously worked with him at Sekhukhune.

The versatile midfielder, with over 150 appearances in the PSL, could operate as a defensive midfielder if signed.

This midfielder was part of the Free State Stars team that won the Nedbank Cup in 2018. He also has 11 goal contributions, including six goals.
