Stellenbosch FC have reached an agreement with Marumo Gallants for the transfer of talented midfielder Thapelo Mokobodi, FARPost has learnt.
The Cape Winelands-based outfit’s interest in the player began in the January transfer window, though a deal couldn’t be finalised at that time.
The 22-year-old central midfielder, Mokobodi, was a key player for Bahlabane ba Ntwa during the 2024/25 season, featuring in 24 games across all competitions.
He has been with Gallants since September 2023.
FARPost can reveal that the player has already agreed on personal terms with Stellies, as the move to the Steve Barker-coached side is now imminent.
This publication can further reveal that Mokobodi will be joining the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup semi-finalists on a three-year deal with an option to extend his stay at the club for an additionalย two seasons.

So far, Stellenbosch have signed Amajita standout Siviwe Nkwali from Cape Town Spurs and the leading goal-scorer of the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship, Muzomuhle Khanyi, previously with Hungry Lions.
The Betway Premiership side also roped in Belgian centre-back Henri Stanic. He joined Stellies on a permanent transfer from Maltese Premier League side Balzan FC.
On the other hand, Stellenbosch renewed the contract of the veteran goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt for the upcoming campaign, which will be his 21st season as a professional footballer.
Additionally, Stellies lost two players in Faiz Abrahams and Tylon Smith. Abrahams joined Hapoel Kfar Saba on a season-long loan in the Isreali Liga Leumit. In contrast, Smith moved to the English Football League [EFL] Championship side Queens Park Rangers on a permanent transfer.
Meanwhile, the side cut ties with midfielder Sihle Nduli, who has joined Orlando Pirates. Thulani Mini has also left the club on a mutual agreement.
