Durban City FC chairman Farouk Kadodia has revealed the club’s main objective for the 2025/26 season after returning to the Betway Premiership.
โThe Citizensโ got relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of the 2022/23 season via the PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs when they were still known as Maritzburg United.
Before the start of the previous campaign, the club rebranded to Durban City and relocated to Durban, playing their home matches at Chatsworth Stadium.
They were guided back to the Premiership by Simo Dladla, who parted ways with them last month, joining AmaZulu FC as an assistant coach to Arthur Zwane.
Having made a return to the PSLโs top-tier league, City, according to the chairman Kadodia, arenโt going to be too ambitious to fight to win competitions against the strongest sides of the league.

They want to be โstable,โ maintaining their top-flight status before competing for trophies in the 2026/27 campaign.
KADODIA SAYS THEY WILL REMAIN โHUMBLEโ THIS SEASON
โI know youโre expecting a bold answer from me. I will be humble and say in our first season, we wonโt go and fight big teams,โ said Kadodia when he addressed the media during the clubโs sponsorship announcement in Durban.
โWe want to get stable in the first year and challenge in the second year.โ
Meanwhile, head coach Gavin Hunt, when asked about management’s mandate, stated his directive was simply to “try and win every next game,” with no specific targets outlined.
โThe mandate from the management, whatever mandate they give you, is โtry and win the next gameโ. Yeah,โ said Hunt.
The former SuperSport United mentor will be back on the touchline after almost three months of being unattached. Matsatsantsa sacked him in March before they sold the status to Siwelele FC.
