Former AmaZulu FC and Magesi FC defender Limbikani Mzava has explained why he opted for a move to the Malaysia Super League despite advances from a PSL club.
The Malawian international has joined Penang FC on a season-long deal. The 31-year-old spent over 14 years in South Africa before leaving for Asia.
He has played for the likes of Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows, Highlands Park, AmaZulu FC and most recently Magesi FC in the Betway Premiership.
He spent the past season at the Limpopo club, Magesi, before his departure in the middle of the season.
WHICH PSL CLUB WANTED TO SIGN LIMBIKANI MZAVA AHEAD OF THE NEW SEASON?
Mzava has since revealed that he had an offer to remain in South Africa and join Venda FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. But he decided to pursue a new challenge, although he is still open to a return to South Africa.

“The team that made an offer for me was Venda FC because coach Clinton Larsen is there,” Mzava told FARPost.
The defender and coach Clinton Larsen worked together at Magesi when they won the Carling Knockout Cup.
“So he called me to ask if I had an opportunity to go somewhere, or maybe I could go to Venda and help the team. But I told him I have an opportunity to go outside the country. So if maybe it won’t work, I can always take that option. That’s all,” explained Mzava.
MALAWIAN INTERNATIONAL FEELS HE WAS ALSO UNLUCKY WITH THE OFFERS HE RECEIVED IN THE PSL
“You can’t get the same offers as I wanted. You have different teams with different offers in South Africa. So I can’t say the offers were disrespectful, but no, maybe I didn’t have any luck to get another team after Magesi.
“So I can’t say the offers I just got were disrespectful, but you canโt get whatever you want.”
