Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman have secured the signature of Cape Town City FC midfielder and Namibian international Aprocius Petrus.

Petrus spent a season at the relegated side after joining from Kosovo Super League side KF Liria. The 26-year-old featured regularly for The Citizens before their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The defensive midfielder has reportedly joined Al Hilal on a four-year deal from Cape Town City FC.

Petrus joins a whole list of other players who have parted ways with the club following their relegation. This includes club captain Thamsanqa Mkhize, who spent nine seasons with the club and helped them secure two trophies.

Another notable exit at the club was Thabo Nodada, who was one of the last remaining players from Mpumalanga Black Aces before their sale and relocation.

AL HILAL BOOST THEIR SQUAD WITH MORE QUALITY PLAYERS

Al Hilal, together with their rivals Al Merrikh, are currently participating in the Mauritanian Premier League due to the ongoing political instability in Sudan.

This is after both FIFA and CAF approved an exceptional request from the Mauritanian Football Federation to allow the two teams to join the local league

Al Hilal won the league with 67 points from the 30 matches. But despite Al Hilal’s achievement, FC Nouadhibou remains the official 2024 Mauritanian league after finishing second.

Both Al Hilal and Al Merrikh are set to continue playing in the same arrangement due to the political situation in their native country.
