A member of the Cape Town City FC technical team has resigned just weeks before the new season resumes and is set to join Tanzania’s Yanga SC.

The reigning champions of the Tanzania Premier League are currently restructuring their technical staff following the departure of their interim coach.

Miloud Hamdi left at the end of the season, having stepped in temporarily after the sudden exit of Sead Ramovic. He has been replaced by Romain Folz, who takes on the role of the club’s substantive head coach.

Folz, formerly with Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu FC, has brought Manu Rodriguez on board as his assistant, while Paul Matthews has assumed the position of technical director. Tshepang Mokaila, who has worked for Marumo Gallants and AmaZulu, has been appointed the strength and conditioning coach.

Meanwhile, club performance analyst Mpho Maruping has left to join CR Belouizdad in Algeria, reuniting with Ramovic. The club has since found a replacement from South Africa.

FARPost can reveal that Thulani Thekiso bid farewell to Cape Town City on Tuesday night before flying to Dar es Salaam, where he is set to be unveiled on Wednesday. The highly regarded former Sekhukhune United and Banyana Banyana analyst will replace Maruping and will work closely with Folz.

This development comes as a setback for the Citizens as they prepare for the upcoming season. Thekiso joined the Citizens in November last year, taking over from Paul Lamb, who left for Mamelodi Sundowns, and Mvuseleli Nokwali, who moved to Babina Noko.

Thekiso brings international experience from his time with the senior women’s national team. He has also previously worked for the University of Pretoria in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

He was part of the Babina Noko squad that achieved a historic first by reaching the CAF Confederation Cup group stages, finishing fourth in the league that season.

In East Africa, they aim to help the Jangwani giants maintain their dominance, having won the league four consecutive seasons.
